چکیده
Abstract This article presents a compositional analysis of metal artifacts from the Postclassic period ( a.d. 1100–1450) city Mayapan, Yucatan, Mexico. We document metallurgical production at R-183, an elite residential group and one most significant archaeological contexts associated with metalworking Mayapan. Salvage excavations in 1998 recovered small cache containing 282 copper bells, two miniature ceramic vessels filled metal, debris including loose casting sprues miscast bells. Metallographic bell wire fragments reveals lost-wax techniques. X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) provides insight into range metals used by R-183 metalworkers, which included copper-lead, copper-tin, copper-arsenic alloys, how these alloys compare to assemblages other city. Our findings strongly suggest use remelting techniques, likely utilizing remelted both West central Mexican origin, together imported goods made alloys.

Insectivorous bat activity at cenotes in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico
Although insectivorous bats represent nearly 65% of the bat fauna of the Neotropics (Simmons, 2005), information on their abundance, distribution, behaviour and habitat associations is scarce in comparison to species within other ensembles. The majority of insectivorous species are difficult to capture and most free-flying bats cannot easily be identified visually when in flight (Preatoni et al...

Three leptospirosis cases with lung involvement are reported from the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. All three patients were admitted to the intensive care unit due to acute respiratory failure. Treatment with antibiotics resulted in favorable evolution despite the negative prognosis. Leptospirosis should be included in the differential diagnosis of patients with fever and lung involvement.

This study represents the first comprehensive chiton study from Alacranes Reef, the largest reef system in the Gulf of Mexico. Nine chiton species were found in seven localities within the area, in the intertidal and subtidal to 12 m depth. SEM examination of C. janeirensis, A. hemphilli, T. schrammi and C. floridanus, showed variations in the sculpture and radular teeth morphology when compare...
